The Nationwide Coordination Project for the Green Transition

Finland aims for carbon neutrality by 2035. Achieving this goal requires a green transition in society.

We support projects that promote the green transition

The Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021−2027 EU structural policy program supports the achievement of carbon neutrality goals. To promote carbon neutrality, the program includes a dedicated action line called Carbon-Neutral Finland, which addresses climate issues and focuses on promoting energy efficiency, circular economy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Measures for adaptation and mitigation are taken to prepare for climate change. Solutions to climate challenges are also sought in other action lines.

The nationwide coordination project for the green transition promotes the realization and implementation of nationwide projects supporting the green transition. The goal is to innovate sustainable solutions and disseminate good practices. Key methods include actively communicating project opportunities to potential project implementers and facilitating collaboration.

The coordination project for the green transition supports project applicants and implementers

The nationwide themes driving the green transition are Energy Efficiency and Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Adaptation to and Mitigation of Climate Change, and a Carbon-Neutral Circular Economy Society. These themes, under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Environment, are based on the ERDF program.

The coordination project for the green transition supports project applicants and implementers. The coordination project is coordinated by the Natural Resources Institute Finland, with the participation of the Universities of Applied Sciences in Oulu and Hämeenlinna in the implementation.
